Galaxies

These galaxy images were taken by me from my backyard observatory with my telescopes. I have a small telescope for wide field images, and a large 14.5″ telescope for close up images with more magnification. Newer images are at the top.

Galaxies are collections of stars like our Sun. Galaxies usually contain many hundreds of billions of stars. The sun resides in the Milky Way galaxy. The nearest large galaxy to the Milky Way is the Andromeda galaxy, about 2.25 million light years away.
